HK$115,800
I know it's gold and everything but I could buy a used car for that sort of money.

WOW. I just did the conversion to USD, and I'm speechless. There's nothing too spectacular that I can see about it to yield a $14k price tag - not even enough gold(?) for that value. The band itself looks chintzy.

It's Apple. People will always flock to pay a premium for their product. And they'll do it again when the Apple Watch S comes out.

I'm not convinced that a smartwatch will enhance my life for £300 let alone £13000

I actually read a pretty interesting article discussing how the gold Apple watch was a substantial departure for Apple. The reason being that their other products, while a bit on the expensive side, were not out of reach for middle class families. With a little bit of saving, anybody could afford an iPad, iPhone, or iMac. This is totally different however, in that it is pretty much only accessible to the rich. It will be interesting to see what happens.

It's Apple, then can demand whatever price they want and people will pay it.

It's actually only 10k USD here. So you can pocket that actual 4k ;)

One reason, amongst others, that they're charging such a premium for that is because they basically re-engineered the gold/alloy mixture to make it stronger without losing gold content. But, yeah, crazy prices.

Is the '9' usually in that position on clocks in Hong Kong? I've never traveled abroad, so I don't know if other parts of the world have differing layouts for analog clocks.

That's the date though. It's probably just a pretty number for Apple.
